Popularization of Science and Technology

Since it is a professional master’s degree, the PPGDesign/Univille has started its activities developing a collaborative network with companies, that network gets wider over the years. This network has derived from research activities, final year projects, and activities performed on the subjects of the program.

In 2019 and 2020, the collaborative network got wider because of the inclusion of the following companies: Irmãos Fischer S.A. Ind. and Com., Quatenus Rastreamento, Mercado Criativo Design, SENAI – Jaraguá do Sul unit, Faculdade Metropolitana de Guaramirim, FAMEG, Construtech Ventures, Centro Universitário Teresa D'Ávila – UNIFATEA; CEPE – Centro Esportivo para Pessoas Especiais/Raposas do Sul Basketball on Wheels, Pedalise startup, Grupo Totvs, Erlangen-Nürnberg University, Plataforma Sabedorama, and Bem Leve Design de Interiores.

An important point of the community universities is its regional insertion, which, along with its social commitment, promotes improvement in quality of life of the community in which is part of. The extension projects characterized by the generation of employment and income have occurred since 2013, with, for example, SempreViva and AmaViva. In 2019, both projects were the students Letícia Birolli and Cristiane Perin de Oliveira’s field research and had the participation of some PPGDesign graduate students (Rita Lorenzi, Valdirene Gruber, Daiane Laís Fontana). 

In 2019, the collaborative network already consolidated to the development of extension projects (focusing on the qualification to work and on the generation of income) involved the following organizations: SAS, Joinville City Hall, AVIVA Consciência Ambiental, textile companies from Joinville and region, Regional Prison, and Tiwa. In 2019, two social projects were developed with funds from the University Extension Office: SempreViva and AmaViva, engaging three professors (Elenir Morgenstern, Victor Aguiar, Marli Everling) and two students (Cristiane Perin de Oliveira e Letícia Birolli) – also projects of technological capacitation; and the Environment Cartoon with Crab Boy, engaging one professor (Marli Teresinha Everling) and a final year project (Lucas Ferreira).

After the Master’s Degree elaboration, since 2013, the PPGDesign/Univille has been an active part of the promotion of GAMPI Design + Plural Design, an event that develops and disseminates the design culture. The organizing committee has the PPGDesign/Univille coordinator João Sobral as its president, and in 2019 its president was the Design Department chair João Carlos Vela. The other PPGDesign/Univille faculty and students integrate the organizing committee, the mediation of technical sessions and the scientific committee.

Besides these activities, five professors are advisors of the productive sector: Victor Aguiar, Fernando Pereira Pruner, Elcio Ribeiro, Adriane Shibata Santos and Luiz Romão. Elenir Morgenstern is an advisor of the institutional and municipal social projects. Marli T. Everling started as an associate and the project director of the Instituto Caranguejo de Educação Ambiental.
